This product provides global climate hindcast data on the native grids of the HadGEM3-GC31-MM model. The atmospheric and land surface data is presented on an N216 lat-lon grid (432 x 324 longitude/latitudes, 0.833 x 0.556 degrees). The ocean and sea ice data is presented on the ORCA025 tripolar grid (primarily 0.25 degrees; 1440 x 1205 longitude/latitudes).The data consists of model output from the Hadley Centre Global Environment Model in the Global Coupled configuration 3.1 (HadGEM3-GC3.1), as part of the Decadal Climate Prediction Project dcppA-hindcast experiment within the sixth Coupled Model Intercomparison Project (CMIP6).The hindcasts (climate simulations initialised from historical data at a specified point in time) start in 1960 through to 2015. Each is typically 10 years long with 10 ensemble members for each start date.[EW2.1][EW2.2] An ensemble of simulations was run, using different initial conditions for each member, to allow users of the data to understand and quantify levels of uncertainty.This data has previously been published to ESGF as part of CMIP6 and is presented here in an optimised netCDF format through application of the CMIP7 repacking tools.Variables included are documented on the github wiki.
